Usetech meets with Omani companies on a business mission
These past two days were full of meaningful conversations, new perspectives, and genuine inspiration. Our Usetech team had the privilege of joining a business mission, where the focus was on the future of cloud cities.
We not only connected with representatives from Oman’s industrial, financial, and other sectors, but also explored thought-provoking talks that sparked many ideas.
One of the highlights was futurist Dr Kate Barker, who shared the vision behind NEOM:
- AI autopilot city — decision-making and resource management driven by AI. The challenge: how ethical and transparent will it be?
- AI companion — a partner who listens and supports. Can AI truly play this role?
- Digital twin — an AI version of yourself, mirroring your skills, tracking your health, and even suggesting what to learn next (imagine doing it via contact lenses!).
Another powerful message came from James Njoroge Muchiri, Deputy Governor of Nairobi (Kenya): trust in technology is the key to the city of the future — and this trust starts with education.
Across the panels, a common idea resonated: “AI + human” is stronger than AI alone or human alone. This partnership benefits society — there’s no need to fear AI, but rather to learn how to collaborate with it.
For us at Usetech, this mission was not just about exchanging ideas — it was about building connections and seeing firsthand how global perspectives shape the future of technology.
