Usetech announces Unique Network – NFT Chain on Substrate

It’s been an exciting few weeks at Usetech. First, we had a double win at Hackusama, the first-ever hackathon for the Kusama and Polkadot ecosystem, bringing home prizes in both the “Build a Blockchain” and the “Community Choice” categories. 

Now, we are delighted to announce the launch of Unique Network, a non-fungible token (NFT) chain for Kusama and Polkadot. 

In comparison to fungible tokens, which are interchangeable and easily replaced by something identical, NFTs are unique, collectible, and digitally scarce. We believe that such assets have a very important role to play in Web 3.0, the next generation of the internet. 

Unique Network strives to create a Web3 economy for NFTs by building solutions for secure digital ownership of unique digital or real assets. We have launched a testnet in Proof of Authority (PoA) mode with: 

• An NFT Module
• A Smart Contract Module for NFTs
• An NFT Wallet
• Re-fungibility
• .NET API connected to Unity SDK PoC
• Alternative economic models PoC
• IPFS
• A Substrapunks game

We built the NFT module using Substrate, the blockchain modular framework that allows easy blockchain customization, interoperability, and scalability across the entire Kusama and Polkadot ecosystem. This is the beginning of a long and ambitious process to create world class solutions for the Kusama and Polkadot ecosystems with the following goals in mind: 

• A variety of economic options for dapp producers to choose from to create freemium games and other ways to attract users.
• Solutions that allow non-blockchain developers to quickly deploy dapps for mass markets.
• Interoperability that allows reaching much bigger audiences
• Scalability on par with non-blockchain solutions

As we have shown with our Proof of Concepts within Hackusama, all of these goals are possible with Substrate. We are now focusing on creating the production level chain. We invite gaming studios, artists, certification providers and anyone else to join us in building a new future.
