“Build your future with AI” — motto of GITEX GLOBAL 2024

From October 14-19, Dubai is hosting a major technology exhibition bringing together representatives from over 180 countries, 200+ thousand visitors and 6500+ exhibitors under one roof. For a few days, Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) will become a place of attraction for all technology enthusiasts.

GITEX Insights - The Future of AI

What can be noted already now: AI is one of the most leading technologies that almost every company is talking about. We can’t help but notice how cybersecurity companies are incorporating AI into their work. For example, Paloalto Network write the following: “It’s time to fight AI with AI”. We can see that companies are consciously approaching the use of AI and highlighting its areas of application.

This year saw an increase in the number of companies providing AI services or integrating AI into different types of businesses. As GITEX attendees note, “AI is everywhere”.

AI is being used for digital transformation of companies and to become a market leader. This is the focus of most participants, and for good reason: the digitalization of business has come to the forefront over the past few years.

As Ilya Smirnov, Head of AI / ML Department at Usetech, points out, digitalization of business processes helps to increase the efficiency of business processes. But at the same time, you should not digitalize everything. You need to identify the key issues and goals you want to address through digitalization.

Many participants note the benefits of AI, but they are concerned about the safety and ethical use of AI. They believe that regulating AI, as well as restricting it in some areas, will help avoid unpleasant consequences. That said, there is no denying the global impact of AI on humanity’s daily activities.

How else is AI represented at GITEX 2024?

Many speakers also touched on AI as part of the digital impact of AI on various markets. For example, this was the focus of a presentation by HE Edin Forto at one of the speaking venues. The speakers also touched on the topic of AI neural networks and the future of AI for stable industry development.

AI for business process automation, AI for data, AI to help humans — these are the key services provided by companies at this year’s GITEX.

What are GITEX exhibitors saying about AI?

During GITEX, we interviewed attendees whose companies are working with Artificial Intelligence and asked them to answer a few questions and are now sharing the fascinating interviews with you.

Pallav Purohit, CEO & Director at Bombay Softwares, talks about the state of AI in the world:

“Yeah, so it is basically making a lot of changes in the world. Now, whatever world, like, you know, monotonous work that people used to do, now these AIs are coming up, and they are taking care of the work that we, human civilization, humans would not want to do, rather they would want to focus on their personal health and their lifestyle. So I think AI is really taking space of that particular area of work.”

Mohamed Mahdi Benaissa, Co-Founder and CEO at Scaling Smart, notes the following:

“AI has reached its maturity. We can find AI in all activity sectors and also in the day-to-day life of the people and this has become possible due to the Big Data and Cloud Advanced, that we have achieved so far. AI is spreading across all spheres because it’s a versatile technology that we can find out everyone.”

Another interesting perspective on AI in fitness was provided by Hydie Reyes, CGM at Fit Hub:

“I believe that AI will help in the front of house teams. AI is going to really soar even higher, because at the moment we see so many things that can help to future advancement. AI can work with anything: Machine Learning, Big Data and other technologies. Today, what AI does is to make things done easily, promptly and accurately”.

Trends in Artificial Intelligence and what it manages to do best

Mohamed Mahdi Benaissa adds:

“One of the trends is the robotics, and this is a big branch because it includes the self drive of the drones.”

Choonggoo Lee, General Manager at ESTSOFT Corp:

“What does AI do best today for me? It’s kind of digital twin is very impressive. They pre-train in the city. They are ready to protect any kind of disaster. That one is very interesting. If we’re talking about the potential collaboration of AI with other technologies, I might add the following: I believe that it connects with mobile. Robot is very hardware, it’s getting better. There is no brain now, but it seems going better. Now GPT can recognize any kind of situation, so it can be good combination with robot. It can be more than, better than human, I believe”

Hosam Khattab, Project Manager at NVSSOFT, adds:

“The trend in AI is generative AI. What does AI do best today? Currently, just the best in the time being, it provides help, support, assistance. It’s a little early to say that it’s able to take actions, implement tasks or finish tasks, but currently, the best scenario, or it can give assistance, support, help.

What technologies can AI work with and collaborate on? In every way, in every aspect, in every technology. We cannot say that AI will go with this more than this or will be better to adopt it here. I can’t say that. It will go in all business sectors, in all domains.

And each domain will get benefits from AI in the utmost output or outcome from it. It will try to. You can’t say that this is more than this or this is less than that.”

Pallav Purohit adds:

“So basically, AI is something which is very versatile. It is all about what kind of knowledge we are giving the AI to perform as such. I believe the most fascinating thing that is there in the world is right now the space science that everyone is focusing on.

And then the oceanology, where the people are trying to know what is happening in the oceans. So this is something which is very fascinating for people to know”

What are the concerns of companies about Artificial Intelligence?

Mohamed Mahdi Benaissa:

“The concern is that it’s difficult to handle the topics like the compliance and the privacy of the data and of the users. This is a big matter because when we deal with the huge amount of data, and it’s very difficult to ensure that the AI-related apps and also use-cases will remain compliant and respect the privacy of people. This is one of the biggest problems”

Many people are afraid of using AI in their lives. There are also limitations in cybersecurity, ethical issues with the use of AI. Hosam Khattab shares his thoughts:

“For sure there were no accidents at that time, but it’s the light that on the ground it will be there, and it will be I believe that this is only, as I mentioned in the first question this is only the beginning and maybe GITEX 2050 or GITEX 2070, we will see robots going in between and talking to us. Next, maybe after 50 years, you will meet a robot to ask him this question and him, ask him, you will feel him. Let’s see. Or maybe also a robot will interview me. This is just the beginning.”
